This year my son was born
And our next door neighbor died
I lost my job and then found a new one
We got hit hard by a monster hurricane
Then we cleaned up and began to rebuild

Our journey through life has taken us many places
It has introduced us to many interesting characters
We have received special gifts along the way
Now we look back on the lessons we learned
And we look ahead towards the future that lies ahead

A time for rebirth has dawned in this new age
Listen to your conscience for proper guidance
Leading your neighbors to the promised land

Save the world from ultimate destruction
Make the planet a better place for us to live in

Robotic disco motion fever
Far out scatterbrain breakdown
Champagne shampoo tragedy
Lights shine down from above

Flowers growing in the thin air
Fireworks exploding all the way
Falling in love with you everyday

When it seems like the night is over

TWISTING SPINNING BURSTING GLOWING
POPPING AND BOUNCING ABOVE IN THE AIR
OUR HEADS HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO THINK ABOUT
SO WE RELAX AND ENJOY THE MOMENT

a perfect fit
true blue until the end
like my own denim skin
we went through all the wars together

I mourn your loss
and I have been saddened
since the moment I heard the rip
my tender heart is torn apart forever




             

12-26-12 Shelter From The Cold Rain

Raindrops tapping on the window
out in the cold dark evening
harsh winds blowing in treetops
branches swaying back and forth
a candle flickering in the kitchen
we turn off the lights and cuddle
toasty warm under the blankets
drifting off to sleep safe from the storm



   

12-25-12 Revenge Of The Holiday Zombies

'twas the night before doomsday
and all through the land
the zombies were stirring
some had only one hand

their bodies were hanging
in all sorts of places
they're snacking on brains
and eating eachother's faces

the children were tucked
all snug in their beds
when the zombies arrived
they chopped off their heads

their stockings were filled
with chainsaws and chestnuts
roasting on an open fire
drinking fresh blood and guts

and we heard them exclaim
as they crept through the night
merry doomsday to all
and to all a good fright

to work
in the middle
of the morning
before the slaughter

running late
on the crowded subway
hustling down the street
stopping for two minutes
at the corner coffee cart
for my usual hot cup
black with two sugars
and a quick conversation
about last night's Yankee game

until it's time to strike
under a crescent moon

showering the dark night
in a magnificent display

Time warps open up wide
strange creatures slide through
with extraterrestrial visitors
in electromagnetic spaceships

Coins jingling
In my pockets
Like winter bells
Ring a dinging

Brass trumpets
Wailing away
Out into the night
Sweet music in the air

Crowds of shoppers
Jammed into mega malls
Spending their savings
In the spirit of giving

Warm apple pie cinnamon spices
A fat glazed ham out on the table
Spreading glorious holiday cheer
Before falling asleep on the couch

Pushing and shoving
Above all else
Below the belt
Spitting on the ground

Stealing deals on a hustle
Snatch the stack
Grab it and go
Watch the money grow

Running away from cops
Over a tall fence
Out in the back alley
Stash the cash in a trash can

Shoot out on Fifth Avenue
Drunk on scotch
At eight in the morning
Escape through a subway tunnel





         

12-18-12 I Saw The Future In A Dream

Through fantastic apocalypse overtones
Wishing wild memories would come flooding back
Finding faith inside shopping malls and department stores
Escaping total destruction in the nick of time

Climbing to the top of the mountain
With empty pockets and a broken spirit
Bleeding out into the world all around
Risking all for everything with nothing to lose

You must choose your fate wisely
The path ahead of us will not be easy
But the journey itself will be uplifting
And we will be in tune with our destiny

Nevermind the great rewind
In crystal waters crashing
Swimming to another ocean
Thoughts come through in waves
Splashing far out in deep blue seas
Singing along with cool dolphins
Floating in schools of beautiful fish

Battling for blood against vicious enemies
Monster sharks fighting giant squids to the death
People hunting whales for blubber are the most dangerous

searching for hidden answers
to long lost ancient riddles
solved using mind control
techniques discovered by
the pioneers of time travel

meltdown in another dimension
shifting above all silent stratospheres
discovering new frontier expeditions
on a mystical journey into unknown realms
observing underworld civilizations alive
thriving below the surface of the planet
plotting to attack when we least expect it

                    as       sirens wail

something doesn't smell right
there's a strange feeling in the air
                       impending danger

     contemplating faith
                     hearing voices
                by starlight

       fractured in the middle
                 but still solid
            when the storm hits

     looking for a            way
                to make       today
         a very good           day

                                       shining light
                               flashing across
                 the midnight skyscape

It's time to put this raging monster to sleep

before it breaks free and takes over the world

so don't loose your cool or sit back and relax

the show has begun and it's not going to be pretty

It's madness in the streets after the monster escapes

on the loose rampaging around town breathing fire

rumbling above the rooftops smashing everything in sight

fighting to save the planet from the creature's appetite 

Total destruction spread across the land 

and everyone became infected once the virus exploded

the outbreak was far reaching to all ends of the globe

the entire population was wiped out in a matter of days
