unaware of all the danger

looking off into the distant tunnel
fast trains pulling into the station
watching a soul trio jamming out
Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay

Dropped you off at the daycare center
your name was written on your bottle
you socialized with the other infants
all by yourself in a midtown building
sitting up so straight and proud

silver bottom dollars on a yellow taxi cab joyride
spoonable noodles in a microwavable container
six slick sleuths solving the crime of the century
rocket robot out of sight over the moon landing

hot coffee survival on an ice cold winter morning
weekend hangover paradise subway insanity
newspaper pages turning furiously flipping back
bacon egg and cheese sandwich on a roll

reservations to nowhere special this evening
hot wings at the brew pub watching the game
move your head in another direction triumphantly
make a political statement on a sunny afternoon




     

01-21-13 Lucky Bamboo

It came shooting up
From out of nowhere
As a gift from the universe

Surviving in that old apartment
Wasn't easy living without sunlight
But our lucky bamboo stayed alive

It grew to symbolize our dream
To move out of that old apartment
And find a place to call our own

Each time I watered our lucky bamboo
I knew that we were inching closer
Towards starting a wonderful life together

Now I sit here in our new apartment
Admiring our lucky bamboo in the kitchen
Holding my baby and clipping a sprout
