yellow taxi cabs racing
bicycle messengers riding
through the neighborhood
watching ghosts pass by
while crossing the street
against the flow of traffic
escaping underground
sneaking through an alley
disappear into the back door
fading into quiet seclusion




     




 

04-05-13 Epiphanies In The Electric Church

the lights came back on again 
and it was just this surreal scene
of shock and awe and joy 
people were hugging and crying

it was like we had all been baptized 
we had climbed to the mountaintop 
and when we jumped off
we found that we could actually fly

walking around town
high fiving strangers
all bets were off 
anything was on the table

I always go back to that feeling
of knowing that anything can happen
now that's how it felt every night 
like we were watching miracles

daylight shimmering in the tide
swimming in the shallow bay
drifting into the deep dark cove
suddenly devoured in one bite

stealth fighter jets tearing up the sky
easter bunny eggs all over the yard
another apocalypse holiday poem

Flying saucers on judgement day
nightmare green radiation terror
gruesome horrors creeping closer
overcome by a kaleidoscope of emotion

We try hard to keep up
like nothing is wrong
we find simple distractions
to fill the massive void

Love for our family grows
and the loss is unbearable
when someone is missing
from the dinner table

Got into a fight with a jerk at my job
