with the windows open wide

We waited until after sunset
when the shadows grew large
and the moonlight was dim

The giant brick walls stood tall
on sacred ground where gods walked
as we stood in their footsteps

Snuck in through a secret tunnel
into a time warp spinning backwards
wandering into historical situations

The grand hall was full of ghosts
hearing echoes of old sounds singing
we've touched sources of eternal energy

Blending in with the crowd knocked out
watching Jimi Hendrix play Machine Gun
at the Fillmore East on New Years Eve

The spirit of technical electric mayhem
transcending to a higher level of existence
expanding deep into the temple of infinity

Racing back home at the break of dawn
the golden sun rises over Second Avenue
eternally through the musical landscape

Those lights sure were bright
When we used to bathe in champagne
And the personalities at the parties
Were hotter than the summer heat

Exclusive access after hours
Downstairs in the basement until dawn
Blinded by the morning sunshine sky
Evil spirits hunting behind the scenes

The darkness of daytime hours
Poisoned in a cloud of black smoke
Down in flames after the last call
Forgotten forever at the end of the jam
