deep into a momentary pause
stopped short in forward motion
then sealed off from the ages
untouched by global changes
unseen for many centuries
uncovered again by chance
then rediscovered in the future
and appreciated once again
through the eyes of tomorrow

like big trees
often grow
in total solitude

flourishing slowly
cultivated by nature
standing through the years

the full potential is realized

In Eden after biting the apple

A major power outage hit before
The fires started burning out of control
There was mass hysteria in the streets
Shortly after all the food ran out

When the virus started spreading
The cities became dark and deserted 
Many survivors migrated north as refugees
Those were very sad days indeed

Big stars in your eyes
Homeless runaway children
Sleeping with junkies and prostitutes
Strung out on Hollywood Boulevard
Eating food from a large garbage can
In the alley behind a four star restaurant
Flash bulbs popping on the red carpet
Rubbing elbows with beautiful celebrities
Side by side for worse or for better
Luxury and poverty in bed together
Falling in love then falling out of style
Standing on line to get into trendy nightclubs
Filthy rich laid back wealthy wearing sunglasses
Cruising along the Sunset Strip on a warm evening
In a slick convertible sports car with the top down
Palm trees and sweet dreams swaying in the breeze
Killing time until the next big earthquake hits

Sometimes small problems
Seem like big problems
And you go through life
Trying to figure it all out

Then you lose someone you love
And your perspective shifts
Suddenly those big problems
All seem so very small

destroy all knowledge
with a heat seeking missile
flash on the drone camera
video sabotage tactics
to erase world history
with a click and a switch
to pull the wool over
all of our eyes are blinded
without ever believing
what you can never see
or only what you were
allowed to see on the TV

It's been a rough
couple of days here

I've been dealing with a lot
of stress and anxiety lately

I'm overwhelmed

Robots and raindrops
Stopping the machine
Cold sweats in between
The radical roller coasters

Soaring through the air
With your hair in fire
Starting to slow down
Before speeding up again

This ride is incredible
A free fall into oblivion
Catching you at the bottom
Before hitting the ground

Cotton candy soda pop
Super fun under a summer sun
Running wild through the park
Until you throw up on your shoes

Maybe it's time to move on
We tried it out but nothing happened
Seeds of inspiration did not sprout

No impact
No difference
No changes
No rewards

Looking out across the horizon
Standing out on the edge of a cliff
Dreaming about a new reality

When hard work doesn't pay off
It's tough to keep pushing forward
After all hope is lost in translation

I had a dream that I could use words
To create a new universe of language
And help people through poetry

But when those ideas all run out
It becomes clear that nobody cares
Is this how the dream ends

Fresh snow down on Twenty Third Street
Hotel Chelsea home for the holidays
slowly up the steps of the old staircase
wrapped in hypnotic black steel railings
following voices that called out to us
we walked the halls with Dylan Thomas
chattering boisterously about modern romanticism
drinking oceans of words in love speaking whiskey
breaths puffing patterned sequences of poetry
doomed to remain cold and silent for eternity
fading away after eighteen straight whiskies
we round a corner
and disappear
into the atmosphere

Lost in a cavernous wonderland
of fantastic mystery and magic
beyond those familiar territories
of boundless imagination where
incredible dreams transform into
amazing realities right before your eyes
and I hope we can live here forever
to forget about all the painful memories
of an unfortunate life spent struggling
now we're off to find our own paradise
transcending into an unknown space
where the atmosphere is joyfully sweet
as the excitement of a new frontier
sweeps us away from the same old story
into the open arms of our true destiny

look all around you
on the savage streets
down in the darkness
lurking in shadows
waiting to steal your soul

The devil is here
to make you do things
you thought you never would do
in ways you never thought possible
to make you serve loyally
by doing the devil's work

The devil is here
setting up the circumstances
deviously manipulating conditions
to further an agenda of evil
as you look in the mirror and realize
the devil is already inside you

Lift your feet up off the ground
And sound the alarm bells out loud
Let your voice be heard across the air
Shout it out at the world with all your might

But don't say the wrong thing
Or else you might deeply regret
That you ever even opened your mouth

Elephants flying on parade
through clear blue skies
over old Brooklyn town

What a great surprise we had
as it was quite a sight to see
those elephants flying on parade

High up above the skyline
through puffy white clouds
and over the sunny horizon

Never before has there ever been
a moment so amazingly incredible
as there was on that spectacular day

Until the elephants started dumping
massive loads of gigantic poop
raining down on crowds of people

Running for their lives as the dung dropped
in a sloppy storm of stinky poo all over
and old Brooklyn town was never the same
