Stumbling through the daylight hours like a zombie

When going to work becomes and endless nightmare

Where you can never wake up if you don't fall asleep

in the Holy Land
between human beings
and extraterrestrials
took place ages ago
where a pact was made
to live on Earth together
in peace and harmony

The deal has now been broken
and the world as we know it
will never be the same
as it all goes up in flames

will return from beyond the stars
to save humanity from the darkness of evil
helping all mankind to regain it's strength
and fulfill our destiny in the cosmic story of life
bringing balance to the collective consciousness
where physical and spiritual forces combine

and the phony lifestyle you pretend to live is an illusion
so milk it for all it's worth because when the bubble bursts
those fake friends will move along to another scene
and you'll be left alone to face your own true self
then all the lies will melt away and all that will remain

Awaken to the smell of bacon
sizzling up in a frying pan on the stove
down in the kitchen before sunrise simmering
with a fresh cup of coffee percolating

Cinnamon waffles burnt to a crisp around the edges
hot butter pancakes swimming in maple syrup and jelly
the newspaper sections all spread out on the table

Sights and sounds of Sunday morning
arousing all of the senses

Nice day in the park
a small child lets go of a purple balloon
it drifts up and away out of reach
through leafy tree branches
swept off by a gust of wind
swooping up Fifth Avenue
all the way across town
passing by shiny office windows
climbing several stories into the air
soaring above the Empire State Building
through white fluffy clouds
coasting up into the deep blue sky
higher than airplanes can fly
all the way out into the atmosphere
it catches a glimpse of the moon and the sun
before all of a sudden

nailing the hot bullseye right on target
radiating a sustainable bioluminescence
immersed in the spirit of disco exploration
chilling out with some diggity dank soup
while making sweet love to your Firefox
so innocent and antisocial in your own prison
rejuvenated with a fresh new sense of purpose
exhibiting an intense sense of energetic strength
combined with the power of an explosive imagination
tossing out great ides into the mysterious universe
affecting the collective consciousness of all creation
while casually fighting wars within yourself
staying up all night watching Twin Peaks reruns
or listening to my favorite Grateful Dead tapes

where we sacrifice darkness to empower the light
which is the only true battle worth fighting for

Aristocrats wearing tuxedos and top hats stood in this spot
Horse drawn carriages gallop around in a romantic dance

Breakdancers boogie to their boombox beats in the heat
Skaters jump and glide on the wind defying gravity
Moments of quiet peace are gently waiting to be enjoyed
Deep breaths of fresh air flow freely in the cool breeze
Walking in John Lennon's footsteps through Strawberry Fields

Forever growing like a garden inside a concrete wilderness
An oasis to protect our humanity from unnatural elements
Protected by an invisible forcefield to keep the beauty intact
Old friends sharing good times together spread out on a blanket

Nana had the style
blonde wig with blue green eyeshadow
decorated in lavish costume jewelry
with a leopard print fake fur coat
a purple scarf with a rhinestone butterfly pin
and glittery yellow nail polish

Nana used to take me out
on long walks down Junction Boulevard
we'd stop in every thrift shop
where we'd be greeted with a smile
by every shopkeeper on the block
and Nana was so proud to show off her grandson
but she always introduced me as her boyfriend

Now Nana is up in Heaven
singing her heart out where she belongs
next to Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday
and there's one thing that I know for sure
my Nana is up there watching over me
and giving all the angels a run for their money

analyzed with prejudice but without pride
glorified slanted and romanticized
selling lies disguised as the truth
then spread out across the planet
like a deadly viral infection
