When the dogs are unleashed
the allure of fresh meat
will wander through the streets
in a smoke screen of deception
where blood is thicker than wine
and electric babies sell it all for free
out on the avenue in the heat
intensified by the bright lies
of fireflies in the wild night
surrounded by sacred darkness
drowning in evil nourishment
nurtured in the arms of demons
in a deadly eternal embrace
lusting after the hunger that drives
crazy ladies into the heart of seduction
thirsting for survival in this city
fighting to feel alive at any cost

Softer than a peach

Poops in a diaper

Black clouds of doom
Stretching across the sky
Strong winds intensify
A low rumble growling
Far out in the distance
Growing louder as it races closer
Bolts of lightning crackle and flash
Suddenly a loud boom shakes the ground
Car alarms going off all over town
A woman in heels running down the street
Click clack click clack click clack
As the torrential rains pour down hard
Splashing in the wake of nature's wrath

Working hard on the night shift
Struggling under the heavy weight
Of unlimited responsibilities
Sweeping weeping sweating and bleeding

And it's tough to get inspired 
When you're exhausted and tired
Afraid that you're getting fired
Wide awake and totally wired

So instead of falling apart inside
I'll simply stay up and write all night
To blow off all that poisonous steam
Into a flowing stream of creativity

Exploring fragile beauty inside brutal wilderness

Seasoned with a secret blend

Cooked to perfection on the grill
Well done under a high flame
Tender and juicy in the center

To lock in that rich smokey flavor
Deliciously delightfully toasted
For a sloppy messy feast at sunset

07-18-12 Storms Of Destruction

A lot of storms passed through here over the years
but we had never seen a storm like this before

Hail stones the size of baseballs smashing windows
Lightning strikes setting fires all over town
Streets flooded out and sewers overflowing
High winds blowing down scaffolding and canopies

Everything changed after that afternoon super storm
but we are worried that the next one might be worse

We have made it this far together
through all of life's struggles
and we have overcome the obstacles
which have been placed before us

We kept moving forward
when the world tried to hold us back
and we fought the toughest battles
without ever losing our passion

We continue to march ahead
while the conflicts keep raging on
and when I turn around to face the fury
I'm proud that you are still  fighting by my side





     

07-16-12 Revenge Of The Fiji Mermaids

They said it was impossible
They said it could never exist

The upper body of a monkey
With the lower body of a fish

Swimming the oceans undiscovered for ages
Deep below in a hidden underwater kingdom

Captured alive in shallow sea waters
By scientists on a zoological expedition

Out on display in a secret sideshow
Gawked at like a mutant circus freak

Then one day the tides turned backwards
And the currents shifted in new directions

Thousands of mermaids swarmed the shores
Like an army of angry aquatic monsters

Filling the oceans with crimson blood
Each with the hunger of a hundred piranhas

Feasting on flesh in a whirlpool of death
Hunting savagely for fresh meat to eat

So when you hear their siren songs screaming
It would be best to swim away as fast as you can

Walking through the neighborhood
On a blissfully cool November evening
Enchanted by crisp refreshing air
Breathing in the smell of dead leaves
Fallen from trees after a terrible storm
Crunching underneath our heavy shoes
Illuminated by the light of the silver moon
As gusts of wind blow through our hair
While gazing up into the starry night sky
Sedated in waves of quiet contemplation
Relaxed in crystal cold anticipation
Of the furious winter which lies ahead

Riding a torpedo
Down to the bottom
Of the murky ocean
Into the remnants
Of old Atlantis
Buried deep beneath
Ancient sands of history
Until an earthquake shift
Changes the seascape
 Exposing the fallen city
To the surface above
Like a phoenix rising
Into the cool fresh air
Of our modern world

Thirst for blood
Has turned our children
Into vicious vampires
Running with the wolves
Trying to escape light
Ending up underground
Elusive in dark shadows
Never to be seen again

Bat wings fly across the moon
Lusting under the vampire's spell
After being bitten on the neck
Creatures of the endless night
Killing for an eternity of evil



     

07-12-12 Intimidation Tactics

High up in the clouds
losing sheep on a sleepless night
tranquil in the moments before
complete destruction tears us apart

Razor blades and hurricanes
flooded out on the bathroom floor
nothing here has caught on fire yet
but the music is starting to heat up

Too many chills on a warm night
getting stuck downtown in a rain storm
there are no taxi cabs around to be found
so we have to walk all the way home again

I might try to be a nice guy
but that's no reason to assume I'm weak
so if you get up in my face again
I'm going to knock your teeth all over the street
