you should see these guys
with their hair slicked back
in the morning at the courthouse
spending their grandfathers' money
wearing sharp tailored pinstripe suits
sitting cross legged all spread out
reading a giant unfolded newspaper
dropping in to request a postponement
briefly before leaving to cash the check

There is a monster in my mind
All thoughts are transforming
The madness is growing strong
Poison flowing red in my blood
Voices calling out from beyond
Trapped between duel existences
Bowing to the sun on the mountain
Channeling sacred ancient energies






   

12-28-15 Spirit Of The Frost Goddess

Whisper in wintergreen
Kisses on a snowflake
Sparkling stars twinkle
Lights flicker in a chill

Ice crystals shimmering
Enchanted visions of beauty
Songs of birds flying south
Monster blizzards up north

Cold winds blowing down
From the distant mountains
White clouds obscure the sky
The silver moonflower blooms

ran out early
to pick up food
at the supermarket
before the rush

spilled coffee
all over my pants
which I washed
yesterday

got soaked
when it started
pouring rain
on my way back

all the groceries fell
out of the wet bags
as I struggled up
the tall staircase

turned the key
walked in the door
no one home
I was all alone

dried myself off
changed my clothes
it's never too late
to start over again

Christmas lights
Blinking on and off
Silent Night on the radio

Early morning
Subway ride to nowhere
People barely smile
Waiting for a miracle

Sidewalk Santa
Collecting change
For the poor kids
Who have nothing

Smell of the trees
I used to gather
Broken branches
To make a wreath

Wrapping paper
For sale on the corner
Two for a buck
Stolen from a truck

Empty streets
Quiet buzz around town
The pigeons don't know
What day it is

They'll eat your heart out

Sailing off into the blazing sunset
Get your free drinks at the cocktail bar
Before the zombies multiply into a crowd

Embarrass all your fake friends
Tell them what you really think
Spill your drink and make a mess
Throw up in the bathroom sink

Insanity is never ending torture
Too many nights spent running around
Success can do more damage than good
Mortality is a tough lesson to learn

Farewell to the old days
Growing old is always painful

Changes are never ever easy
I suppose it's all for the best

Or at least what's meant to be
But we survive to grow stronger

Then pass on what we have learned
To the next generation of children

We grew up after Vietnam 
But before the Gulf War
And in the days between
We had Star Wars

We played with action figures
In the backyard after school
We became powerful Jedi masters
Dueling for the fate of the galaxy

We read comic books and novels
From an ever expanding universe
We dressed up in Boba Fett costumes
When it wasn't even Halloween

We've studied the teachings of Yoda
And practiced the ways of the Force
We stayed away from the Dark Side
And learned to use our powers for good

We wished we were Han Solo
And fell in love with Princess Leia
We'd defeat Darth Vader and the Empire
From our seat in the Millenium Falcon

We are the Star Wars Generation
And Star Wars is forever
