02-05-15 Ghosts Of New York City

As we wind through the sidewalks
We pass by millions of strangers
Some appear stranger than others
I'm not so sure I recognize anyone anymore
But the ones I miss the most
Are the characters we left behind
I can see them now through teary eyes

Andy Warhol holding court at Max's Kansas City
Jimi Hendrix jamming after hours at The Scene
Janis Joplin dancing around the bar at El Quixote
Jack Kerouac stumbling through the White Horse Tavern

Those days are long gone
But the spirit lives on
