When I come home
from a long day at the office
after fighting the daily struggles
I walk inside our front door
to find you sitting there so innocently
unaware of how difficult life can be
then you look up at me
in a moment of instant recognition
you smile so naturally
I realize how lucky I am
to be your daddy
and I know in my heart
that all my hard work has paid off
