then my car battery died in the afternoon

Getting ready to drive far
leaving town headed down to Virginia Beach
glowing full moon rising up over the lawn
drenched in lightness on an August evening

Sitting alone in a diner
drinking coffee in the middle of nowhere
contemplating my place in the universe
quietly writing in a composition notebook

All these years later
I am happy to be at home with my son
watching him grow right before my eyes
and I finally know my place in the universe

They had a wide variety

I used to buy Led Zeppelin bootlegs
with my lunch money there

The guy behind the counter
told me that Nirvana was a band

Record stores used to be
great places to hang out
and talk about music
