splashing through puddles
when the sewers overflow
high pressure cold front
sheets of rain pouring down
flooding the subway stations
rats running down the platform
abandoned broken umbrellas
litter the sidewalks on Fifth Avenue
pidgeons splashing in the park
the hot pretzel vendor stayed home
sunshine in the afternoon
soaking wet with nothing left to lose
steam rising off the pavement
