the great slide goodbye
reminds us how we used to live
in happier times of days gone by
before the youthful glow burned out
and broken bottles have been left behind
where the marbles used to roll away
down the street where we used to play
when we were crazy kids so alive
with hopeful dreams in our eyes
lost in a childhood wonderland

but we were in such a rush to grow up
that we forgot to enjoy those times we had
now we're left here all alone in the dark
to pick up the pieces and begin again

Riding on the back of a golden dragon
into a magical fairy tale kingdom
where imagination meets mythology
and wizards rule over mystical creatures
from inside mysterious crystal castles
guarded by gargantuan gargoyles
who are the keepers of the secret treasure
which is rumored to have the power
to bring peace and harmony to the universe
but if it falls into the wrong hands
it could be used for evil purposes
to destroy everything in the living galaxy

Overflowing at low tide
Floating with a school of jellyfish
Taking a quick dip in the ocean
Swimming in the soothing seas
Picking up beautiful shells
Like tiny little sculptures
Along the sparkling shore line
Waves splashing cool water
Spraying a warm tropical mist
Breathing in the clean salty air
Bathed in whirlpools of calm relaxation
Looking out across the horizon
Walking barefoot down the beach

Blood flows like electric lightning
strikes harder than a stake to the heart
attacking you while you're asleep
manipulating dreams into nightmares
after the witching hour has passed

Wolves howl under a bright full moon
as the shocking slayings continue
under a silent veil of dark horror
rolling with disciples of the undead
in a cold case of mistaken identity
until the curtain of deception is lifted
and the morning sun begins to light
the thick night's pitch black starless sky

Creepers crawl back into their tombs
to rest deeply beneath eerie shadows
inside the depths of the underworld
until the evil evening arrives again
and the Devil's Carnival comes alive
to welcome your soul to it's destiny

Each decision we make
starts off a chain reaction
of consequences like dominos
all falling down one by one
each choice informs the next
exponentially rippling into infinity

Sitting alone in the dark
listening to raindrops tap
I can't help but wonder about
all the decisions I've made
that didn't turn out so great
or those important decisions
that I chose not to make
and where they would've led
if I had made a different decision
along the path to my ultimate destiny

At night he stands alone
outside the subway station
in front of Dunkin Donuts
listening to propaganda
on his old transistor radio
with the volume turned up
as loud as it can possibly go

He's a Vietnam Vet
dressed in camouflage
wounded in combat
where he lost his mind
in Nineteen Sixty Nine
stuck inside a time warp
and he's still fighting the war

treacherous super storm in the winter
three feet of white snow at the doorstep
crunching under our feet as we hike
one large step at a time to nowhere
lost in the blindness of blizzard winds
bewildered with no sense of direction
coated with crystal ice sickles cracking
cold with frostbitten toes burning numb
can't go on frozen solid where we stand
until a giant hairy creature drags us away
to a hidden cave on the secluded outskirts
before disappearing away into the night
alive and frightened so far way from
the orange glow of a cheap space heater
catching on fire inside an old farm house

past the edges of the universe
naked as children of eternity

Slow ride from the starting gate

down the hill picking up speed

climbing higher up to the peak
then the bottom drops out below
suddenly plunging us into oblivion
plummeting weightlessly unbound
in a zero gravity free fall flying up
through the spiral we loop de loop
into a double triple dipsy doodle
upside down and around the bend
out of control like a runaway train
sick to our stomachs and screaming
before shifting gears settling down

hustled together in a patchwork
of happy faces and fancy colors
attracted to the downtown circus
setting the party scene on fire
crazy drunk on mother's milk
liberated in a dynamite package
dropping the innocent routine
all the way down and around
to pinch a little bit off the top
trapped inside an expanding light
with a special kind of cool smile
fooled into believing the fairy tales
starving for affection and love
filtered naturally through damage
in green leaves or shattered lives
but once the genie is out of the bottle
