the great slide goodbye
reminds us how we used to live
in happier times of days gone by
before the youthful glow burned out
and broken bottles have been left behind
where the marbles used to roll away
down the street where we used to play
when we were crazy kids so alive
with hopeful dreams in our eyes
lost in a childhood wonderland
but we were in such a rush to grow up
that we forgot to enjoy those times we had
now we're left here all alone in the dark
to pick up the pieces and begin again
