We shook hands and acted cool
over champagne and cocktails
wrapped inside wicked smiles
lost in endless boring conversations
building from a quiet hush to a roar
pretending to care with a vacant stare
Now they won't dare to look me in the eyes
I see through their beautiful disguise
kissing cheeks telling drunken lies
I can recognize their fake surprise
when they never even begin to notice
that I'm not around in the pretty crowd
since I simply don't show up anymore
