Awaken to the smell of bacon
sizzling up in a frying pan on the stove
down in the kitchen before sunrise simmering
with a fresh cup of coffee percolating
Cinnamon waffles burnt to a crisp around the edges
hot butter pancakes swimming in maple syrup and jelly
the newspaper sections all spread out on the table

Sights and sounds of Sunday morning
arousing all of the senses
but I just want to go back to sleep
